We are currently working on a solution for this problem, which we will release in a bugfix update as soon as possible. We have found an issue that causes Live to freeze when sending MIDI out, either to external hardware or internally via the IAC bus. Here’s the current state of affairs according to the Ableton Live support forums: Until this update is available, they do not recommend updating to Lion. The company is working on a compatibility update which is coming very soon to address existing issues. ReCycle owners will be notified when ReCycle 2.2 is released.Ībleton Live is not currently working with OS X 10.7. Registered ReCycle owners can sign up for the ReCycle 2.2 beta here. Propellerhead reports that “Our current products have been tested on this new OS X version and we are happy that Reason and Record are fully compatible.” Recycle, on the other hand, relies on Rosetta which has been removed from OS 10.7 and therefore will not work with the new OS. Read more detailed information below to see if your software is ready for the new OS before you upgrade. As you’d expect Logic 9 works perfectly with Lion, although Logic 8 does not work with the new OS (so you’ll need to upgrade if you want to use it.) Important: The steps below are not needed if all plug-ins are already updated for Apple Silicon. To use VST2/VST3 plug-ins not yet updated/compiled for Silicon, you can force Live to run as an Intel application via Rosetta 2, as explained below. Note: We recommend checking if your plug-ins are available natively compiled for Apple silicon and keeping a list of plug-ins which still require Rosetta, so that when a Silicon native version becomes available from the manufacturer you can install them. Please note that some specific AU involve Intel-compiled processes, and that these will require Live to be run as an intel application via Rosetta 2 as explained below. If you notice AU plug-ins appearing in Live 11.1 whose VST2 and VST3 counterparts are missing, it's likely that Live is hosting an Intel AU via the AUHostingCompatibilityService translation tool. However, many Intel-based Audio Unit plug-ins will display and load, thanks to the macOS feature AUHostingCompatibilityService. When used on an Apple Silicon computer, the Universal build of Live 11.1 only recognizes VST2 and VST3 plug-ins natively compiled for Apple Silicon. Missing plug-ins (Universal/Silicon-native build) While plug-in scanning is in progress, plug-ins may temporarily appear missing. In Live 11.1, VST2 and VST3 plug-in scanning will operate in the background no plug-in scanning will appear in Live's startup window. If the device don't show up after a restart, please try to reset the database as explained here. Note: It's important to allow Live to index the new devices by waiting a few minutes after launching Live 11.1 for the first time.
